Why Poo and Who

Why Poo
PooPeriod is a series of drawings chronicling poos found across the city of Toronto and beyond. A spin on Picasso’s Blue Period, this series changes something sh__ty into something to look forward to, taking in and acknowledging the negative along with the positive.

This series is also a rebellion: it is anti-aesthetic, anti-algorithm, anti-artificial. It means into what is organic, and embraces the messiness of real life.

Each poo was photographed and then hand drawn on paper using graphite and ink.

Who
Hi, my name is Rosa. Thanks for visiting this site!

As a kid and into adulthood, I always loved drawing. In 2016, I went back to school to study Graphic Design at the George Brown College School of Design in Toronto, where compulsory courses in drawing reignited my love for making things with my hands. These poo drawings are a way for me to continue building those drawing and perspective skills, while getting more mileage out of my cache of copic art markers.

I'm now a freelance graphic designer working and living in Toronto, with my young family and our rescue rabbit Hugo (a.k.a. Hyoogs). If you're curious about some of my other work, feel free to visit my portfolio site here.
